Board Member Janelle Jordan Dropping Off Feminine Hygiene Kits to The Academy at Lincoln
Board Member Janelle Jordan Dropping Off Feminine Hygiene Kits to The Academy at Lincoln

Did you know that some girls miss school simply because they don't have access to feminine hygiene products?

This happens every day in schools across the nation.

I’ll never forget the day an older gentleman asked me at the Post Office while I was picking up donations, “Are feminine pads really that serious?” And I said—absolutely.

I’ve heard countless stories from girls who’ve bled through their clothes or stayed home from school to avoid embarrassment. I’ve had girls at I Am A Queen say, “Ms. Alana, can you give me a pad? I messed up my pants.”

There is no shame in menstruation, but there is a real problem when schools lack access to basic feminine hygiene products.

That’s why we launched the Queens Period Project four years ago—to create a solution where there was a silent crisis.

This summer, our teen-led project will serve girls in Greensboro, High Point, Reidsville, and Wentworth, N.C.

We invite you to join us in this important work. Learn more and support the cause at:

Together, we can restore dignity and ensure no girl is left behind because of her period.
