I Am A Queen to Host 4th Annual Queens Period Project in Guilford and Rockingham Counties

I Am A Queen, a youth development nonprofit serving girls ages 10–18, will host its 4th Annual Queens Period Project, expanding this year to include both Guilford and Rockingham counties. This teen-led initiative combats the stigma of period poverty by donating essential feminine hygiene products to local schools.


The project is driven by teen leaders in the Queen Arise Leadership Program, who are committed to raising awareness about the impact of period poverty—a lack of access to menstrual products that can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and missed school days for many girls.


This year’s volunteer packaging events will be held on the following dates and locations:

Saturday, June 7 | 12 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Brown Recreation Center

302 E. Vandalia Rd., Greensboro, N.C.


Saturday, June 14 | 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Elm Grove Baptist Church

1302 U.S. 29 Bus., Reidsville, N.C.

In partnership with Elm Grove Baptist Church and the Pink Butterfly Group


Saturday, June 28 | 12 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Brown Recreation Center

302 E. Vandalia Rd., Greensboro, N.C.


I Am A Queen has set an ambitious goal to assemble 5,000 hygiene kits and is calling on the community for support. The organization is collecting:


  • Feminine pads

  • Feminine Wipes (Individually wrapped)

  • Pantyliners (Individually wrapped)

  • Hand sanitizer (Individually wrapped)


Donations can be dropped off during the event days, where the kits will be assembled.
